Adding videos from your YouTube or Vimeo account can do a lot to enhance your post. You can share videos from your back yard, your latest vacation, or just something silly you found taking a *ahem* break at work.
WordPress has made it dead easy to add videos to your posts. All you need is the URL of the YouTube or Vimeo page you found the video on. Look for it up in the the address bar, as highlighted in this screenshot.
Make sure you get the full URL! It should say “watch?v=” somewhere in it if you’re pulling from YouTube. You also want to make sure you’re grabbing the link from the public page the video is displayed on – not your account page.
Next, go to your blog admin. Open up a new post or the draft you’re currently working on, whichever applies. Make sure you have the “HTML” tab selected. Then enter the video embed code into your post, like this:
Once you save your post the video will be displayed.
If you have any trouble with these instructions, or the video or post doesn’t behave as expected drop me a line in the comments. I’ll try to help you get it sorted out.
